Turkish Catskiing in the Yalnızçam Mountains
Welcome to Eastern Snow’s newest freeride destination! For the 2027 season, we’re heading deep into northeastern Turkey—to the pristine Yalnızçam Mountains, part of the Lesser Caucasus, right up near the border with Georgia. Here, deep powder, wide-open mountain slopes, and an authentic off-piste experience await—far removed from anything resembling a commercial ski resort.
NEW for 2027: We’re now flying to Kars, spending six full days cat skiing—and no days at a resort. Just powder.
Why choose catskiing in Turkey?
– 100% off-piste & consistent powder snow – One of Turkey’s most snow-reliable areas, ideal from December through March.
– The area is all yours – We have an exclusive license for a 60 km² area. No other machines, no other people. Untouched trails, day after day.
– No lift lines—just pure freeride—Specially built snowcats take you straight to the day’s best runs.
– Six days in the snow – Six full days of catskiing with no resort days. Just snow.
– Unique mountain culture – Stay in an authentic mountain village and experience genuine Turkish hospitality.
The Area – The Yalnızçam Mountains
Our base is located in the village of Yayla, right up near the border with Georgia—where the road ends and there are only high mountains on all sides, with peaks reaching up to about 3,000 meters. The Yalnızçam Mountains are part of the Lesser Caucasus, and we have an exclusive 60-square-kilometer area all to ourselves. As the crow flies, it’s just 50 km to Bakhmaro in Georgia—a name many freeriders already know.
The terrain is varied and offers something for all skill levels—from wide-open spaces and long, gentle turns to more technical riding for those looking for a challenge. When the weather turns bad, we head into the wooded terrain, where visibility is better and the lines are still great.
What can you expect?
Our experienced, certified mountain guides ensure your safety and find the best routes every day. From the snowcat, you’ll find long powder runs with elevation drops of up to 1,000 meters.
Whether you prefer long, gentle turns on open snowfields or fast, technical runs through the trees, Yalnızçam has something for you.

This trip is ideal for skiers and snowboarders with experience in deep snow and off-piste skiing. You don’t need to have tried cat skiing before, but you’ll need to be in reasonably good physical shape for the times we venture a bit away from the snowcat.
The focus isn’t on the usual comforts of a traditional ski vacation. It’s an adventurous freeride experience in good company, where flexibility is key as we seek out the best snow conditions. We always start the first day with avalanche and safety training.

ABOUT THE TRIP
Transportation
The most direct route is by plane to Kars (KSY). From there, it’s about a 3-hour drive along the mountain road to the base.
The road is well-maintained, but during heavy snowfall it may be closed temporarily while it is being cleared. If you arrive late in the evening while the road is closed, you may have to spend the first night en route, after which we’ll reach the base early the next morning. We therefore recommend arriving in the afternoon, when the snow is typically cleared on an ongoing basis and the risk of delays is minimal.
There are good connections to Kars via the major Turkish airports (Istanbul and Ankara) with daily domestic flights. As soon as the flights are confirmed, we’ll send you our flight recommendations so the whole group can travel together.

Safety & Guides
Safety is always our top priority. Our local mountain guides are certified and have in-depth knowledge of the area and snow conditions. They select the best and safest routes every day. All participants must bring avalanche safety equipment—a beacon, shovel, and probe. Equipment is available for rent.
Accommodation & Catering
We’re staying in the heart of the mountains in cozy wooden bungalows in the village of Yayla—simple, authentic, and exactly as it should be on a real catskiing trip. The place is run by a local family, and the food is in a league of its own: fresh, local, and homemade.
At the end of each day, we’ll gather in the common lounge for a briefing, hot meals, and stories from the day. We’ll stay 6 nights in double rooms (with the option to upgrade to a single room). The last night of the trip will be spent at a hotel in downtown Kars, where we’ll wrap up our adventure with a nice dinner together.
Passport and visa
It is very important that the information in your passport matches what is on your ticket. No visa is required to enter the country.
